Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps people who, because of injury or illness, have difficulty performing everyday tasks such as grooming, dressing, cooking. Our occupational therapists help clients develop the necessary skills and compensatory strategies to execute common tasks. Occupational therapy services may include:

  • Retraining in basic daily living skills and home management tasks, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, cooking, shopping, and laundry.
  • Improving strength and range of motion, restoring function, and relieving pain in the upper extremities.
  • Utilizing various modalities as an integrative approach to pain management and restoring movement.
  • Recommending and teaching the use of adaptive and other medical equipment.
  • Teaching energy conservation (breathing and pacing techniques).
  • Training caregivers and providing home programs to maintain or improve functional gains.
