Outpatient Rehabilitation

Hebrew Rehabilitation Group serves adults of any age who have had an illness, accident, or surgery that requires continuing rehabilitation or pain management. The premier outpatient rehabilitation group in Connecticut specializing in geriatric care and offering all three rehabilitation services - physical, occupational and speech therapies - Hebrew Rehabilitation Group believes in individualized, hands-on therapy with a focus on client and family education.

Modalities that we employ in Physical and Occupational therapy sessions may include: ultrasound, electric stimulation, moist heat and cold packs, paraffin, and diathermy.

Examples of conditions that are commonly treated are:

  • Surgical - hip or knee replacement, laminectomy, fractures, tendon repairs and general medical surgeries. 
  • Neurological - stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and nerve related injuries. 
  • Musculoskeletal - sprains, strains, weakness, pain and joint problems. 

 

Physical Therapy sessions may include:

  • Utilizing manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise 
  • Providing mobility and gait training, emphasizing balance and coordination to improve walking skills 
  • Improving strength and range of motion 
  • Retraining to achieve proper posture to enhance comfort, relieve pain, or improve breathing 
  • Treating chronic back or neck pain, sciatica and arthritic pain 
  • Offering individualized instruction for a home exercise program 
  • Teaching fall prevention techniques 
  • Evaluating the need for and assist clients in obtaining custom wheelchairs and power mobility equipment 

 

Occupational therapy services may include:

  • Retraining in basic daily living skills and home management tasks (such as bathing, dressing, feeding, cooking, shopping and laundry) 
  • Improving upper extremity strength and range of motion to restore function and relieve pain 
  • Utilizing Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation (ETPS) as an integrative approach to pain management and restoring movement. 
  • Recommending and teaching the use of adaptive equipment 
  • Teaching energy conservation (breathing and pacing techniques) 
  • Training caregivers and providing home programs to maintain or improve functional gains 
  • Conducting ergonomic and environmental safety assessments 

 

Speech therapy assists with:

  • Restoring speech and language function, including verbal expression, comprehension, reading and writing skills 
  • Improving cognitive skills including memory, organization, reasoning and problem solving skills needed for independent living 
  • Overcoming voice and swallowing disorders (diagnosed with Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations)
